A Chiffchaff in the front garden!?!
We get them in the trees out back, but I've never seen them in our front garden -
especially not using the bird baths and playing in the Hawthorn. So cool!

Uh oh....
A house nearby was sold recently and they completely decimated the front garden.
I'm guessing this little one was living there and has been disturbed because although I
feed the birds, rats are something we never see. I've not even seen the field mice for months.
Now, I personally don't mind because like many other unloved species, they are wrongly villainised.
However, if they are seen I'm sure neighbours will kick up a fuss or put down traps
and I don't want that. Poor little thing.
I don't mind seeing mice or rats in the garden, either- as long as they're not around my food, they're welcome. We get the occassional mouse, but I used to see them more often when I had rabbits and guinea pigs, and kept hay, straw, and woodshavings in the shed. We also have grey squirrels living in the tree at the bottom of our garden- there's at least two, and they're always nice to see. I don't get how people can hate them. Also, I wish I still had guinea pigs, as Mars' new beds are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI don't know where people expect wild animals to live these days, they seem to not want them anywhere despite them doing no harm at all. I'd be SO excited if I had squirrels in my garden! I'd never get anything done because I'd obsess over watching and photographing them haha.
DeleteThe beds are so cute aren't they?! From a small business I found on Instagram - so well made!
