Back Through the Lens - Week 35

Welcome back to my new series 'Back Through the Lens'. Click here to see week 1 and read all about what is going on. The short explanation is that 2020 is my 8th year of documenting my life through photos and so I'm looking back at this exact week over the past 7 years to compare them! This is week 35.

2013 - 14th September
Crickets outside my front door of my Byker house.

2014 - Week 35
The bare-bones after moving into a new house...

2015 - 29th August
Mam and I had a day out to the Barracks in our hometown.

2016 - 26th August
Four years ago and Mr B was turning 4!

2017 - 29th August
I took this photo because despite these very prominent signs right along the bridge, still no one takes notice.
And that annoys me.

2018 - End of Series
This was a crazy year for me and sadly I gave up taking daily photos 5 days into June.
It was an eventful year and I really regret not carrying it on.

2019 - 2nd September
Baker, Daddy and Mammy had a day a Beamish and having a trip on the Steam Engine.

2020 Project 366 // Days 232 - 238

19th August 2020
Our poor Athena.
The sad thing about rescuing animals is most of the time you know nothing about them.
When we went to pick her up we didn't even have a certain idea of species, let alone where the previous owners had gotten her.
She's only maybe a third of the size a Columbian Boa should be at her age and recently we've had a scary development of a growth on her head.
We know that of course she won't live to her full life expectancy, but until then she will live a better life than she would have before she became a Hallow.

20th August 2020
A bit of a windswept breakfast time for our Collared Dove friend.

21st August 2020
Mr H works 6 days a week then on his day off we always end up with loads of other stuff to do.
Today we made sure that by midday we could just sit and watch a movie.
I miss him being home like he was at the start of lockdown.

22nd August 2020
Finally finished! Had a bit of a slow reading week but got through book number 37 of 2020 tonight.

23rd August 2020
Downpour! It's no wonder we have such sporadic 'extremes' of weather, the way we treat our planet...

24th August 2020
From an avocado seed, we have a tree and from the tree a new branch.
We have so many of these mini trees all over our house and I don't even eat avocado haha.

25th August 2020
Crafty day making a start on the wildlife garland for Bakers room.

Back Through the Lens - Week 34

Welcome back to my new series 'Back Through the Lens'. Click here to see week 1 and read all about what is going on. The short explanation is that 2020 is my 8th year of documenting my life through photos and so I'm looking back at this exact week over the past 7 years to compare them! This is week 34.

2013 - 31st August
Boop!

2014 - Week 34
Walks through the fields.

2015 - 26th August
Baker's 3rd Birthday portrait!

2016 - 23rd August
Now that's what I call a sunrise!

2017 - 23rd August
Another on the Tweed. A perfect queue of swans!

2018 - End of Series
This was a crazy year for me and sadly I gave up taking daily photos 5 days into June.
It was an eventful year and I really regret not carrying it on.

2019 - 24th August
A sunny day date walking at Penshaw!

2020 Project 366 // Days 225 - 231

12th August 2020
These flowers always remind me of Alice in Wonderland.

13th August 2020
Haar coming in hard down Shields front.

14th August 2020
You could buy these girls the most expensive bed but they will always prefer a repurposed veg crate with an old dressing gown in it.

15th August 2020
Spur of the moment drive up to visit my parents today.
The number of starlings up there compared to where we live is crazy.

16th August 2020
An unexpected wildlife-filled day.
A Rusty Tussock Moth Caterpillar was chilling in our back garden when we got back from Mr H's workday.
The field out back had the most Thrushes I've ever seen in one place together this morning.
And we cut 2 thirds of the front grass too so we don't look like slobs but have still left a third wild for all the bees and other wildlife.

17th August 2020
My new book sleeve arrived today!
Beautifully made, lush fabric, awesome packaging!
Featuring Mr H's new book sleeve behind it too!

18th August 2020
Eos taking over my desk and soaking up the morning sun.

Back Through the Lens - Week 33

Welcome back to my new series 'Back Through the Lens'. Click here to see week 1 and read all about what is going on. The short explanation is that 2020 is my 8th year of documenting my life through photos and so I'm looking back at this exact week over the past 7 years to compare them! This is week 33.

2013 - 26th August
Baker's 1st Birthday!!

2014 - Week 33
A beautiful little sparrow adventuring in my Mam and Dad's rockery.

2015 - 15th August
The Royal Border Bridge as seen from my bedroom window at the time, all lit up in rainbows!

2016 - 13th August
Mam with Wojtek the Soldier Bear Memorial in Princes Street Gardens on one of our day trips.

2017 - 14th August
Cosy little pigeon.

2018 - End of Series
This was a crazy year for me and sadly I gave up taking daily photos 5 days into June.
It was an eventful year and I really regret not carrying it on.

2019 - 18th August
One of those rare moments where they actually act like sisters!

2020 Project 366 // Days 218 - 224

5th August 2020
Our slightly colder, sporadic weather in the North East makes home growing a little more difficult than further South in the UK but Mr H is doing well so far.

6th August 2020
Two new pins on our pin pendant this week.
The beautiful Black Lives Matter one from Yapfrog and the 50th-anniversary one we picked up on last Saturday's visit to Beamish.

7th August 2020
Finally got the Fuchsia planted and now it looks tiny.
I look forward to it spreading and the bees loving it more.

8th August 2020
Happy International Cat Day to 2 out of 10 lights of my life.
My days (and nights) wouldn't be the same without these girls and along with their Daddy and siblings have made my life so much better over the past 2 years.

9th August 2020
I'm still petrified of Butterflies even when they are this tiny.
And yes it did fly at me and I nearly ran straight into our stone birdbath while escaping.

10th August 2020
I love when the darker nights and mornings start to roll in again because it means I get to see sunrises and sunsets again.
With going to bed early, the sun has still been awake recently and although we get up at 6 the sun has already been up a couple hours in summer.
6am sunrises and 8pm sunsets are the perfect timings.

11th August 2020
So a certain Mr Hades decided he didn't like the new stack vivs and we had a jailbreak.
After resecuring the vents with strong glue, he broke out again!
We ended up having to lug his old (super heavy) custom viv back up into the reptile room, take it down from being on sale and get him back in it.
As you can see, he's very happy with himself.
