2023 Daily Photos // Days 120 - 126

30th April 2023
A day full of gorgeous girlies! Katinka, Bunny & Chick (daughter and mother), Izzie, Margarita, Ophelia & Juliet.

1st May 2023
Another issue in the roof!

2nd May 2023
The Lion King tour at Sunderland Empire Theatre.
My first time out anywhere around the general public, or a large amount of people other than shops since February 2020!
We attended the 'relaxed performance' and were of course masked up.
I struggled, especially until we were seated but I did it!
My Mam and I last saw The Lion King in 2015 at it's UK home, the Lyceum Theatre, London and I have to say it was noticeably different.
I don't know if that was because it has been 8 years and it has evolved over time or because
it had been altered for the touring performance but either way it had some obvious changes.

3rd May 2023
Huck and Clementine were out simultaneously which was lovely to sit and watch for a while.
The Starling parents from the nest in next door's roof were back and forward gathering food and stopped for a rest on our fence too.
And a special visitor paid a surprise visit...more on that below.

4th May 2023
The return of Rhea!
Remember our little rescue pigeon Rhea from January/February 2022?
We hadn't really seen her since her release but hoped she was doing well, so you can imagine our surprise when she returned yesterday.
We'd been taking our 'April' monthly portrait in the front garden as we'd forgotten last month, when a
lone pigeon seemed to fall from nowhere right by us and walk right up to us.
The pigeon had a slightly dropped wing but I wasn't convinced it was Rhea, Mr H was though.
We sat for a while with them and got some more food.
After a few hours we'd been inside keeping an eye from the window and they'd not moved.
They stayed in the corner and even when other birds had been spooked and flown off, they hadn't.
I was nervous to leave them there all night as there are so many cats so we decided if they didn't leave we'd get them.
I checked markings and distinguishing features against my photos of Rhea from last year and came to the conclusion it was indeed her.
We decided that if she hadn't left that night we'd get her and it seems as though she wanted us to
get her as she came willingly into our little rescue home in the back garden.

She had a plentiful supply of food and water, a warm cosy bed protected from predators and she rested.
We visually checked her over and had given her a quick look when we caught her too, all looked well.
Today she had a wander into the run, sat in the sun for a little while and then slept lots more.
It would seem that she was exhausted, the previous day had been very hot, and she came back for help.

5th May 2023
As always, we had many beautiful garden visitors today and the piece of apple I'd put out for the field mice had attracted the first caterpillar (in our gardens) of the year!

Rhea was also showing signs that she was feeling rejuvenated!
She did a bit of preening and when Marble (another of our regular visitors) landed nearby she seemed interested in joining him.
I removed the run and she took off.
We were so glad that she felt comfortable returning for a rest and was well enough to leave so soon.
I'll write an update blog post on my main blog soon, until then see her original visit here:
