A Robin, a Ruby-Tailed Wasp and the most saturated evening sky we've had in weeks.

Every few months I take a photo of the front of our house to document the changes

of the nature and the wildness we've tried to nurture. 

The last photo was taken on the 29th of June 2019, a few days after we moved in.

I'm so happy with the difference and though it may look 'messy' to some, it looks as

it should to me - wild. The Elder will get trimmed in time but with so many berries 

ready to ripen and be fed on by the birds, it will stay crazy for a little while longer.

Completed my second jigsaw of the month and in just two days!

So many of the Magpies around here are looking worse for wear, but it doesn't seem to

affect them too much and they come with all the pigeons for breakfast. 

It's always nice to see any birds enjoying the bird baths too - it's so important to provide

clean water for them always but especially in these hellish temperatures.

(Aurora has an ice pack under the quilt and never lays like this!)

The first two clutches of Butterfly eggs fell victim to slugs, however the third clutch 
has just hatched! Very exciting.

3rd August 2024
I filmed a Blue Tit enjoying a long bath in this little birdbath but sadly was too late to get a photo.
This gorgeous Great Tit hopped down for a drink straight after though.
(We have 3 other bird baths but the little birds love this one under the Hawthorn!) 

4th August 2024 
6.05am 'Sunrise'. Summer sunrises and sunsets have nothing on the other seasons!
Update on the baby caterpillars too.

This was my last trip to the Wetlands until after the school holidays!

Mam came with me and we clocked 30 bird species.

The garden buggies are finally appearing! 

We've also had a Butterfly lay their first clutch of the season (well, that we've spotted!).

It seems as if all the Butterflies have appeared overnight!

I think this is a Large White Butterfly, but feel free to correct me

as I'm not great at insect etc identification.

As I hung out the washing this Bird-cherry Ermine(?) stopped on a towel to say hello!

Two beautiful baby Black-backed Gulls have been on the field out back.
Sadly, as the school had their last day the day before, there was a lot of rubbish.
The babies spent a long time chasing this piece of rubbish, playing tug of war with it
and generally trying to eat it. So sad.

Provide the essentials, and they will come!!
This Sparrow family had so much fun playing and resting in our Hawthorn today.
The pigeons are daily visitors, however, if you look closely at the last photo you'll spot two Stock Doves!
They sadly didn't come into the garden, but were unexpected sightings nonetheless.

Old little man with his treat toy! 
(He was a rescue and so I am aware that his toes are deformed from mistreatment in his early life.
His nails are regularly cut and this is sadly the shape of his feet.)

After a great deal of scouring the internet, I've come to the conclusion that the buggie that
hitched a ride on my hair from the front garden to the back is some sort of Leafhopper...
I dropped Mam and Dad off at home today too and took the time to check in with the baby birds.
